JACKET AND TROUSERS For a simple wedding, one can choose a two or three pieces suit, London smoke grey or dark blue. THE MORNING SUIT It is made of wool and formed by a black or dark grey jacket, with long tails down to the knee. It has always to be worn buttoned. A pair of trousers with “pence” and double grey chalk stripe is sustained by white satin brace.
THE WAISTCOAT It has to be buttoned, rigorously in colour pearl grey. The white shirt has a stiff collar, with the typical lifted tips and the double cuffs link. The waistcoat is completed by a plastron tie, usually plain grey silk and by a pair of grey chamois leather gloves and a black or dark top hat, both of which will be kept within the hands. The bridegroom will wear a white buttonhole flower. The morning suit has to be worn in extremely sophisticated and elegant ceremonies celebrated before 6 p.m.
HALF MORNING SUIT In a less formal ceremony is indicated the half morning suit, a ceremony suit formed by a jacket without tails and does not require as finishing hat and gloves. THE TAILCOAT Indicated for particularly important and sumptuous weddings celebrated at night. The typical jacket of the tailcoat is short in the front, has very long tails and has to be worn opened, letting see the waistcoat.
THE WAISTCOAT The waistcoat will have a V-neck or a U-neck and will be closed by three buttons; the bow tie has to be white.
THE SHIRT Wearing a morning suit or a tailcoat, one has to wear a white percale shirt. But if one wears a single-breasted coat, the shirt can be in bright or piquet cloth. The shirt neck can be: - French style. It has got short and little tips. - Italian style. It has got longer tips. The cuffs can be simple cuffs with buttons, or double cuff link.
