The wedding reception

 


Everyone is unique and special, and so every wedding has to be unique and special, in harmony with the temperament and the personality of the married couple.

Your wedding reception will have the atmosphere you wish for it. It could be also a majestic and fabulous celebration in a neoclassical building of the capital city of the Tuscany. Its halls represent an architectonical gem, where Paolina Bonaparte lived. In particular in the main hall she celebrated her magnificent feasts.

Or, you could celebrate your wedding in a particular style, with the fascination and the atmosphere of an old castle or an old villa, perfectly suitable for open banquets. A wedding reception in an Italian garden represents a memorable and romantic choice.

DECORATION AND FLOWERS
When, after long time, you will leaf through your wedding album you will feel and appreciate the presence of flowers.  This, you will notice, forms a memorable frame full of light and colours of the beautiful moment that is your wedding.

The organisation of the wedding reception depends on the atmosphere you desire for whole day, on the guests number and on the time the celebration takes place.
The choice goes from a classical lunch served at the table to a reception, a brunch, a cocktail, a dinner at night
All of this could be supported by a dancing feast, whether you like.  Whatever the atmosphere may be a classical, a bucolic, an informal or an extremely elegant reception - everything will be studied in every single detail.

LUNCH
It is served by 12 am and 2 pm, and is the favourite kind of reception of the married couples. Particular suitable with official marriages celebrated late at morning, it offers an unlimited number of possibilities. It is always preceded by an appetizer, a hors d'oeuvre, one or more first and second courses, side dishes and, in the end, a wedding cake, all served with a variety of wines.

BRUNCH
The term comes from two English words, breakfast and lunch. It is an abundant breakfast served at midday and substitutes the lunch. It is particular suitable with celebration at early morning. It is an excellent solution when guests have not the opportunity of staying long time, or when you don't want to oblige the guests to a formal lunch. It is a quite cheap reception because it has not many courses. Coffee, tea, fruit juices, soft cocktail go with brioches and salads, crepes, marmalades, cakes, and canapˇ§¦s.

COCKTAIL PARTY
It usually begins at 4 pm and the end has to be before 7, 30 pm. In the cocktail party organisation you will find soft alcoholic aperitifs, suitable for the afternoon, and light savouries with small pieces of special bread and hot and cool sauces, fresh cheeses and raw vegetables, to be enjoyed with alcoholic drinks and odorous wines.

DINNER
Usually served by 7 pm and 9 pm, the dinner is that kind of meal which gives the opportunity of preparing a very elegant reception. Everything has to be in harmony with the atmosphere and enclose a kind of refinement. The meal begins with an appetizer, then a hors d'oeuvre, first and second courses, a wedding cake and in the end a variety of wines.

Usually after the dinner, a dancing party is organised and this will last for the all evening.

THE MEAL AND RECEPTION PREPARATION
This stage requires a very accurate coordination which has to link together a very good cooking and a particular atmosphere made by lights and colours.

As regards the reception it is important to consider:    

The choice of the place. This choice requires attention. You could opt for a prestigious villa or a castle, places which will turn your wedding reception into a dream.

The placing of the tables. It would be good to organize the disposition of the tables, so to assign each guest his/her own place.

THE SERIVCE
Service times and the pauses from a course to another should not be too long. There has not to be a very fast service nor let the guests become nervous for long waiting.

THE MENU
The choice for the dishes that composes the menu depends essentially on the time and the season this meal takes place.
Winter season: the more indicated foods are: hot soups, roast meat, wild fowl and stuffed cakes.
Spring and summer season: your choice could be oriented towards a fresh menu, formed by cold dishes, fish, exotic fruits and vegetables, very light cakes. It is better to choose foods that belong to the area and the season you get married.

SUGGESTIONS
In order to render the waiting time between a course and another more pleasant, a musical entertainment is indicated. The married couple and the guests may dance or listen to the music so to enjoy these nice moments.

DECORATION ON TABLES
Every detail which has the aim of decorating the tables has to be in harmony of colours and materials not only with the couple tastes but also with the season the wedding takes place.
The table decoration has to be in harmony with the tone of the bride's bouquet, the ornamentation of the ceremony and reception place. The choreography of the whole day has to be coherent. The tablecloths have to be chosen with the same tone of the dressing of the table and the wedding general atmosphere. There could be lace, tulle, Flanders,  or country tablecloths. There also will be a place for each guest enriched with little comfits bags (e.g. linen bags, tulle tufts, silk flowers or little pearls).

THE DANCING
THE WEDDING BALL
The married couple will start with the dancing, and then will follow both the parents and the witnesses, and in the end the other guests.

THE WEDDING END
The giving of the bonbonnieres takes place only in the reception end. This is the last duty for the bride.
It is tradition to give comfits as a good wish: the bride walks through the tables with someone who will bring for her a crystal or silver comfit tray and she gives the guests the comfits with a silver spoon.

NOTE: the invention of the comfits comes from the Renaissance, when people begin to cover almonds with white sugar. The comfits concentrate all the sweet that resides in the marriage, and has represented in the past a precious gift, reserved to significant events.
